ON !A bit chaotic today in 2nd and 3rd period, so we did not get everything done.
For all classes, the most important parts:
A grade was taken on HW #1 for 4 pts.
Students wrote up definitions for similar polygons, ratio, and proportion in their Geometric Truth (attached below).
We spent a good bit of time going over HW #1 to show how important the "corresponding congruent angles, corresponding proportional sides" definition of similar polygons is. And how we apply that. Repair the damage to HW #1 if it was not good enough.
We did investigations to determine that there are Triangle Similarity Shortcuts (AA, SSS, SAS).
These are for TRIANGLES ONLY. We also did a worksheet at the end of class to apply and make sure we understand these.
In 1st period, students saw their finals and took home a self-evaluation. 1st period: do not answer the question about what strategies you might use from "hints for success". We will do that next block.
HW #2: p 380: 17-18 (on 18 you need to "dismantle the sketch and put the two triangles next to each other in the same position). AND p 384-5: 1-16, omit 10-11. On problem 7, a sketch hint is attached below, along with the answers. ON #16, DO NOT TRY TO WRITE RULE... JUST GIVE A SCALE FACTOR.
