Take a deep breath. We are getting close to the end of our concentration on new geometric terms, their names, sketches, parts, and labels. After tonight's homework, you should have 30 terms in your geometric truth (students have been taking photos of the list on the board). We also have 3 undefined terms: point, line, plane. All definitions should have a page number, definitions, good labeled sketch with names under it. A 5 pt grade will be taken next block over the Geometric Truth section of your notebook (not mixed in with homework or notes).
Today we warmed up with T/F practice over linear pairs and vertical angles, and an algebra practice incorporating angles and segments. The algebra sheet is on the Block 8 Post. The T/F is attached below. We also read p 59 in old textbook and practiced sketching. The sketching problems and answers are attached below.
We read about polygons, classifying and naming polygons, congruent polygons from pp 50-52 in new textbook. There were illustrations and practice with naming and classifying.
For homework, copy definitions and sketches for the following terms: polygon (include good sketch showing consecutive sides, angles, and vertices), diagonal of a polygon, convex polygon, concave polygon, congruent polygons, equiangular, equilateral, and regular polygons. (pp 50-52 in new book).
Students received a topic list for the quiz (attached below).
HW #7: p 48: 21-24, 29-30; p 52: 1-9,11-12,14-18,24-25.
If you have not yet, be sure you have written all the angle definitions from pp 44-45 in your GT. (These are attached on previous post.) QUIZ NEXT BLOCK, last 30 minutes.
