In class today we shared information about our vocabulary writing and came to agreement on definitions for linear pairs and vertical angles. Write these into your geometric truth when you have time... does not have to be now.
We learned about parallel and perpendicular lines and the way we mark and sketch and name them (including naming lines with one lower case letter). We went over HW #7. In 1st and 2nd I took a grade on it for 4 pts.
We looked at definition for polygon and classifications of polygons and got exposure to the new terms that will be written up in Geometric Truth for HW.
We practiced: T/F over detecting linear pairs, vertical angles, and angle bisectors in a sketch with more than 2 lines; sketching (activity and answers attached); and algebra - writing and solving equations based on geometric definitions. All of these activities are downloads below.
HW #8 - p 47: 4-6, 9, 12, p 48: 21,23, p 52: 4-9, 11-12, 14, 24-25.
1st period: from p 45, copy definitions and all sketches and labels for "parallel lines" and "perpendicular lines". All classes: from pp 50-51: in Geometric Truth, define and sketch:
polygon, diagonal, concave polygon, convex polygon, equiangular polygon, equilateral polygon, regular polygon. Always copy the best labeled sketch available.
Quiz topics are also attached for 40 pt quiz in next block!
NOW, for those of you asking for extra practice, I have some help for you! Open your online textbook (Go to flourishkh.com and use first part of your e-mail for username, 5-digit lunch code for password, and 72703A for pin.) From the menu options, choose: Practice Your Skills, (pick Chapter 1 from pull down menu and choose GO). Here are some good problems to practice from the first 5 pages: Lesson 1.1 - 1-9.
Coord Geom Midpt - 1,2,4
Lesson 1.2 - 1-5, 16-17
Lesson 1.3 - 1-9, 11-12
Lesson 1.4 - 1-10, 19
I am attaching the pages of the solutions manual from the teacher book that include these problems.
I have also uploaded my Geometric Truth, but only through 8/30.
