Another day in our Building Blocks unit of honors geometry.
We quizzed today over 1.1-2. If you missed the class for the quiz, you must make it up BEFORE you return to class. It is based on the worksheet warm-up from block 7, which is attached to the block 7 post.
We started with a warm-up... in 1st period to practice measuring segments and angles, in other classes we did algebra based on segment addition and angle addition postulates. We defined "adjacent angles" from the board: 2 angles that share a ray, the ray in "between" the angles. Get the sketch from a neighbor. And then we practiced sketching and labeling rays, angle bisector, and angle that can only be named with one letter.
A grade was taken over HW #6 - 4 pts. We went over homework fairly carefully, focusing on the sketches and the midpoint problem where you find the missing endpoint (#4 on p 32). Please continue to use the online textbook.. it is helpful!
We did the activity/investigation in section 1.3 to construct definitions from sketches, practicing first with the "widget" sketches. In some classes we shared those definitions.
Our HW #7 is p 32: 8 (just the first rectangle), p 39: 35,37, p 48: 13,15-17, 19-20, 22,24, 29-30. ALSO, please copy definitions and all sketches and labels for "parallel lines" and "perpendicular lines" from p 43.
Then we did the 18 pt quiz at the end of class.
Quizzes will be scored to see next time.
