Right triangles are clipping right along! This is the most important content of the year... it's all over the ACT and ASPIRE, it's the foundation for trigonometry in PreCalculus. #1 key to success: BE HERE!!! (unless, of course, you have something we don't want to catch).
Today we quizzed 10:1-3: Pythagorean Theorem, Converse, and Shortcuts. The quiz was 20 pts. If you were not here on Friday, Monday during A&E was your make-up time unless otherwise contacted. Wednesday during A&E if you were absent Monday.
Quizzes will be graded by the next class.
We warmed up with a practice on Pythagorean Theorem, squares, rectangles, area, and perimeter. We also found the length of a radius of a circle graphed in the coordinate plane.
After going over homework and the warm-up, we used that radius question to lead to notes and practice over equation of a circle. (x-h)^2 + (y - k)^2 = r^2 is the template like y= mx + b is for lines. So (x-3)^2 + (y + 1)^2 = 25 is a circle of radius 5 centered at (3, -1). See attached notes and homework.
HW #9b: p 520:1-7. For 0B, add problem 9, as 0B learned how to put in standard form by completing the square.
I did not take a HW grade... with take 9A&B next time.
