Hope you learned a lot in our second block! The take-a-way:
The two kinds of reasoning we use are inductive (based on patterns) and deductive (based on facts and logic).
Our goal is to recognized the difference in an argument and explain how we know. Also to be able to identify conjecture and give a counterexample that would show an inductive argument to be false.
Good questions: can inductive conjectures be wrong?
If deductive arguments starts with accurate premises and have valid logic, will they lead to the truth?
Can you refer to a conjecture as unproved and a theorem as proved?
The handout for tonight's homework is downloadable below if you lost it. Remember to do 1, 3-10, 15, 16, 22, 1-4 on bottom right.
DO YOUR WORK IN YOUR NOTEBOOK IN THE HOMEWORK SECTION!!! HW #1 is due for Block 3 on Friday-Monday.
A copy of today's notes is downloadable below also. The last download is a fresh copy of the Reasoning Activity from Day 1, if you think that might be helpful. If you lost the syllabus or compass order or Zero Hour Contract, those are available under Pre-AP Geometry Forms.
