We are getting close to the end! Important dates:
0B Circle Test - Thursday, April 25. (class ends at 8:30, PSAT follows for 9th grade only).
1st, 2nd, 4th Circle Test - Friday, April 26.
6th period Circle Test - Monday, April 29.
Mon-Tues, May 6-7 - 3-d and volume quiz.
May 13-15, 3-D and volume test.
Two review days for finals.
0B final on Tuesday, May 21. Others follow on May 22-24.
We are running out of time. YOU NEED TO BE IN CLASS EVERY DAY FROM NOW UNTIL THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.
Today's block:
Our warm-up led us to the idea of radians (radian measure of an angle). Radians are just arc length divided by radius. I also described this as arc length from standard position to one of the special points on the unit circle. A good Khan Academy video is linked in the NEXT POST. Below is a link to describe how to find the coordinates in terms of sine and cosine. It is long and a bit tedious.
A grade was taken on HW #9 with part of the unit circle also. Make-up quizzes were taken during A&E.
The warm-up included some practice with partial area of a circle. On A day we practiced equation of a circle. Then we went over warm-up and homework, followed by introduction to finding radians on the unit circle and finding coordinates in terms of sine and cosine. cos (angle) = x-coordinate on unit circle, sin (angle) = y-coordinate on unit circle.
For homework, do the back of the unit circle sheet: one circle is degrees, one is radians, one is coordinates. Use sine and cosine to find the coordinates.
For A-day students and 6th period 10th graders: HW #10 - also do from textbook: p 462:13-15, p 475:11-19 (matching), p 484:12, and p 494: 54.
0B and 9th graders in 6th were given the unit study guide and review assignment instead. It is available on the next post below this one.
Answers to Unit Review will be added tomorrow for 0B students.
