We started today with a warm-up (attached below) to practice applying the different formulas for double angle, half angle, and power reducing formulas.
I took a grade on HW #1 from textbook for 4 pts.
Answers to the warm-up and to the homework were shared. Questions answered.
On the problems like #44 on HW and #4 on review worksheet: when simplifying, there is not a perfect answer. As long as your answer is equivalent to mine, I am OK with that. There is no magic "stopping point" as far as I am concerned.
Worksheet 5.5 is HW #2, due next time. Answers and work attached below.
Quiz next time is a lot like the worksheet.
We will be starting Law of Sines next time before we take the quiz.
l will print a formula sheet on the back of the quiz.
Remember that if you are using a half-angle formula you must figure out what quadrant the half angle is in. A sketch is helpful.
If you want to use a the fact that the small angle of a 3,4,5 is half the large angle of a 7,24,25 (and vv), you can. Just make a sketch to show your thinking.
Remember that tangent formulas are not really necessary. You can just use sine formula divided by the cosine formula.
