We are getting close to the end of a unit. There is a quiz next time over the content we learned during the last hour of class today. You will be asked to: sketch graphs of the four discontinuous parent trig functions and identify their properties in a type of matching question. Make sure that you know what the 4 graphs look like and why, because you will not have a calculator to check. (A hint on secant and cosecant is to graph cosine or sine first and make sure you get those tangent (shared) points at the maxima and minima of sine and cosine. It also helps to remember which are even and odd.
Answers to the worksheet are attached below.
The unit test will be next Wednesday, October 9.
Today we: went over the two worksheets for homework. We took a quiz over 4.5 (just like worksheet). Then we learned about the parent functions of y = tan x, y = cot x, y = sec x, and y = csc x. We filled in some notes to help us learn for the quiz.
The unit test is over 4.4-6. You will get 4.5 quiz back on Monday. You will get 4.6 quiz back before the test. A review will be started on Monday in class with answers available online.
I have not yet taken a grade over the two worksheets. Bring them next time as well as the Calculator Graphing Activity sheet.
