Our third block of the second semester centered on three things:
#1 - you have a quiz on Tues-Wed, Jan 15-16.
Topics: solve a proportion algebraically with a + or - sign in it, Write a solve a proportion from a story (these are from warm-up in block 1, see attachment for Block 1); Are these figures similar, why or why not, and which figures? Find missing information in similar figures based on proportions. Are the triangles similar? Which shortcut? Dilation w/ no coordinates: where is the center OR here is the center and a triangle, find the new one by a scale factor of .5 or 2.
#2 - dilation with Geogebra (review); with hints about how to proceed if on paper with no grid. (warm-up next time on paper with no grid)
#3 - indirect measurement with mirrors or shadows (also on quiz).
We also went over homework #2 carefully, learning how to do problems 7 & 16. No rule on 16. Please write proportions to find unknowns using definition of similar polygons.
HW #3: pp 388-90:1-7, 10-11, p 394: 1-6. And write up C 59-61. See attachment for more details.
