As of now, your geometric truth section should have the following terms in it, with good definitions and sketches and labels: collinear, coplanar, line segment (includes endpoint), congruent segments, midpoint (includes bisect), ray, opposite rays, angle, angle measure, congruent angles, angle bisector, adjacent angles, and parallel and perpendicular lines.
Our big idea is to focus on precision when naming, labeling, sketching and defining geometric terms. We are practicing these in class.
Today we created a set of notes about points and lines and planes and their relationships. We practiced naming and sketching lines, line segments, rays, and angles. We practiced measuring and drawing angles using the protractor.
We also practiced marking sketches and interpreting marks on sketches. Sketches can be free-hand. The marks make them accurate.
HW #5: p 34: 23,27, p 44:30,32-33, 35-38. From p 48, define parallel lines and perpendicular lines. Copy good sketches.
We ended class with two things: a definition writing activity with partners of the 7 terms on pp 49-50. Do not write into geometric truth. We are making up definitions and will compare next time.
Then we took a short HW quiz -4 pts - over HW #4. It was a quick excerpt from a short HW. This will count as a homework grade.
