This quiz will not be given. We will do a practice quiz at the beginning of the block after Thanksgiving so that you will know what it would have been like.
Today we practiced deciding which triangle shortcut shows that triangles are similar (or not) using a Kuta worksheet. We went over HW #9 in detail with a focus on Triangle Shortcuts as well as writing and solving proportions to find missing information based on similar triangles.
We studied problem 7 from HW #9 closely, looking at why the three right triangles are similar. This is an important idea that we will cover more thoroughly after Thanksgiving.
We did a short dilation activity on copy paper as opposed to graph paper, locatding a ceter of dilation and dilating a triangle by a scale factor of .5.
We then modeled indirect measurement based on similar right triangles (shadows and mirrors). Read about this on pp 581-2 and then try problems 1-2 (we did these in class).
There was no homework assigned over the break.
Test re-takes of Triangle Congruence Test need to be done the week after Thanksgiving.
