Take a deep breath. We are getting close to the end of our concentration on new geometric terms, their names, sketches, parts, and labels. After tonight's homework, you should have 39 terms in your geometric truth (students have been taking photos of the list on the board). The 39 includes our 3 undefined terms: point, line, plane. All others should have a page number, definitions, good labeled sketch with names under it. A 5 pt grade will be taken next block over the Geometric Truth section of your notebook (not mixed in with homework or notes).
Today we warmed up with T/F practice over linear pairs and vertical angles, and an algebra practice incorporating angles and segments. Both are attached below. Answers in green on Algebra; answers on second page for T/F.
We defined and came to an understanding of congruent polygons in class today (attached below). Important to understand that the order of the names have to match... corresponding congruent angles in the same position in the name.
In some classes, we practiced sketching 1-6 on p 51. These will be completed &/or checked in Block 11. Some students also got started on a handwritten 1-page review worksheet. These will be completed for warm-up next time.
Students received a topic list for the quiz (attached below).
The homework (not on quiz) - 6b: pp 56-57: 12-15, 17-21,25. (on 25 just write coordinates, do not graph).
Also from pp 60-61, in Geometric Truth: define, sketch, and label the 6 different types of triangles: right, acute, obtuse, scalene, equilateral, and isosceles. If you have not yet, be sure you have written all the angle definitions from pp 49-50 in your GT. QUIZ NEXT BLOCK, last 30 minutes.
