Today we finished up circles and moved on to area of geometric figures. Area formulas were in the handout from the previous block, stapled to the back of the circle ACT notes.
There will be a short circle quiz at the beginning of the next block (4-5 questions). Circles will be tested on the final. Do not lose the three handouts: a page of created notes with two circles on it, a three page handout with combined notes and problems based on the ACT, and a two-page handout with multiple choice questions that will be like the questions on the final. I will be taking a grade on one of these handouts during the next block.
Students did a page of simple area problems as a "warm-up" to using the formulas that they should know from prior years. These were checked for accuracy and a 4-pt grade.
Students also received another area "worksheet", a compilation of problems from an old textbook. This is HW #13 and should be finished before returning to class. Show work.
The formula for area of a kite is half the product of its diagonals, just like a rhombus.
Both of the area handouts are attached. All of the circle materials are on previous blogs.
