There will be a quiz on Wednesday over teh Pythagorean Theorem. You will need to be able to find a missing side of a right triangle (showing algebra), determine if a triangle will be right, acute, or obtuse given its three sides, and word problems to solve by making a sketch and using the Pythagorean Theorem to solve.
At the beginning of class, you will get back the word problem sheets that you did last Thursday and correct them to understand your mistakes.
Today Pythagorean Theorem warm-up was also good preparation for the quiz. (Attached below.)
We began our study of Right Triangle Trigonometry today by learning how to identify opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse sides in a right triangle. We also did an investigation that required measuring angles and sides in similar right triangles to discover ratios of opposite over hypotenuse and adjacent over hypotenuse in certain right triangles. Don't lose your investigation! We will use it during our warm-up on Wednesday.
Attendance is particularly important in this unit. One missed day can result in big misunderstandings on a very unique topic.
