YOUR FINAL EXAM IN GEOMETRY IS THURSDAY, DEC 15 DURING YOUR ZERO HOUR BLOCK! Be here, be on time, bring a pencil, be prepared!! The test is mostly multiple choice. There will be 5 open response problems, but you get to pick three to work out. You received a topic list in class. Read this through and find problems in the review that match the topic list. Make sure you can do them. Finish all six pages of the review assignment. BRING IT TO CLASS THURSDAY. You will turn this in for a 15 pt grade. On Wednesday evening about 7 pm, I will post answers to the review on my website. Your algebra problems must show algebra used to get full credit. If you want to come in a bit early to ask me questions, you may come as early as 6:45 on Thursday morning. The review assignment is attached to the previous blog entry below. MOST NEEDED TO STUDY: names of angle pairs, when are they congruent? When are they supplementary? Which need to be congruent for lines to be parallel? Which need to be supplementary for lines to be parallel? Be able to explain in detail why you said this, using correct names for angle pairs. The topic list is attached here.
Today we began reviewing for our fall semester exam. We worked on review our reasoning unit and vocabulary unit today in class, finishing the first two pages of the review assignment. Page 4 (angle pairs) was sent home for homework. If you did not finish page 2, then finish it also. In class on Tuesday we will do pages 5, 6, and 2. Students will also get a topic list of what to be able to do for the final. If you missed class today, please download the entire review below and do the 1st, 2nd, and 4th pages. Thanks! FINAL is next THURSDAY during class!!!
Today was our unit test over transformations. Thanks for all of your hard work.
The review assignment will be graded for 6 pts on Friday. If you missed the test today, you need to make it up as soon as possible. WE ARE NEARING THE END OF AVAILABLE TIME! Your Geometry final will be next Thursday during regular class time. On Friday this week, I will pass out a review assignment and topic list. On Friday and Tuesday in class we will be re-working parts of old tests to prepare for the final, as well as checking the review assignment. Today was our last full day of learning about rigid transformations and lines and points of symmetry. We had two different in-class activities attached below. HW #8 and #9 were graded for 4 pts each. We worked in class on lines of symmetry, points and rotational symmetry, multiple transformations. We also started our review assignment, a front/back worksheet attached below. We looked at good student work on the Rotation Homework #9. I passed out a Test Topic List attached below. THE TEST IS WEDNESDAY IN THE LAST HALF OF CLASS! It will be 20 multiple choice questions with some partial credit for showing work.
Today in class we had an 18 point quiz over the basics of transformations. The quiz contained vocabulary, translations, and reflections, no rotation. If you missed the quiz, you need to come Tuesday during advisory and make it up. On Wednesday at the end of class we will have a unit test over transformations worth 60 pts. Today we practiced using our vocabulary and adding to our vocabulary notes. We did investigations that used two transformations together (called a composition). One was two translations, and one was a translation followed by a reflection. We also practiced rotations and even rotated around a point that is not the origin, using an "Aussie" math activity. HW #9 is attached below... it is all rotation. Patty paper is encouraged.
